My name is Miss Cross and I teach the fabulous Year 4 class . The year 4 children are very lucky to have such a great team of teachers to support thier education. As part of our commitment to the children's mental health and well being, Mr Scott will continue to deliver Active 30 for the children every day and Mr Gibbons will be with us every Thursday for one of our PE sessions. Miss Smith will be teaching History and Maths every Tuesday morning, this term. In addition, the year 4 children will have specialist music teaching from Mr Birch at Love Music Trust, every Friday and the opportunity to learn an instrument.
We are looking forward to teaching the full curriculum again for the Autumn term and I am sure the children will be buzzing with all the exciting things that we have planned. This half term our focus is a history topic called The Forgotten Flamoyant King – which is all about James I.
English: We have 2 set texts for the Summer Term – Leaf and Whale, both books will be used to develop the children's writing skills through engagement in quality texts. Our class author this half term is Jeff Kinney.
Maths: In Maths we will be covering Place Value, Addition and subtraction up to 10,000, Multiplication and Division
Science: In Science we will be covering Living Things and Their Habitats in the first half term, then Sound
RE: In the first half term we will be finding out why is Muhammad important to Muslims
Computing/IT: We will be using code to create our own educational game
PE: In PE we will be developing our skills in football and tag rugby. All PE sessions will remain outside for the time being.
PHSE and RSE :We will also be using a range of materials to support the children's physical and mental well being, including continuing with the Happy Minds programme, Kiva, No Outsiders programmes and the Christopher Winter Scheme of Work
Reading is still a high priority so please continue to read with your child at home and sign their diary.Your child will continue to receive spellings each week which they will practise both at home and in school .The children can continue to use TT rockstars to practise their times tables and also they can use the same site and password to access Numbots. Every child has an Oxford Owl log in so that they can access a variety of books at home and school. The children can access many curriculum areas on Purple Mash and practise any areas of maths and English that they may be finding tricky.
In addition there are some great free online resources to support your child at home.
Resources to help you
The two sites below have games that reinforce concepts that children may still find tricky from earlier year groups so are great for revision of concepts, consolation and practice
