My name is Miss Cross and I teach the fabulous Year 4 class also known as Pod 5. I have been part of the team at Acton for five years and I thoroughly enjoy working with the children in Year 4. We also have Mrs McCarthy in our bubble, and Mr Scott who will be delivering Active 30 for the children each day.
It is lovely to have the children back in school and this term we will be ensuring the children settle back into school, whilst learning the new routines in order to keep everybody safe. The Autumn term curriculum will mainly be focusssing on Maths, English, Computing, P.E, R.E and Science. This wiill enable children to catch up on some of the areas that they may have been due to cover during the Summer term, whilst still learning the syllabus due to be taught in the Autumn. In addition we will also be having daily "Time to Talk" sessions in order that we promote good mental health and well being. Time to Talk sessions will focus on managing feelings, developing self efficacy, promoting connectedness, developing hope and gratitude and building resilience. These sessions will allow the children to have a safe place to explore their feelings.
Your child will receive spellings each week which they will practise both at home and in school ready for a weekly spelling test in school. The children can continue to use TT rockstars to practise their times tables. When the children have been reassessed on Accelerated reader we will start to send reading books home. Please make sure you continue to read with your child each night and sign their communication diary when you have herd them read.
In addition there are some great free online resources to support your child at home.

The two sites below have games that reinforce concepts that children may still find tricky from earlier year groups so are great for revision of concepts, consolation and practice
