Welcome to the Year 2 page.

My name is Mrs Baxter and I teach in Year 2. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas break and I wish you all a happy and healthy new year.
Keep an eye on the class page for any letters that I send out. You can also follow the school social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date with the latest news and events.

Homework
Your child will receive spellings each week to practise at home ready for a weekly spelling test in school. Your child now has their own personalised login details for TT-Rockstars. They can logon both in school and at home to practise their times tables.

Communication
If you have any questions please write a note in your child's communication diary. You can also contact me via the school office or on the Year 2 email address: year2@actonceprimary.net I will endeavour to support you and your child the best I can.

Literacy
In Literacy this half term we will be exploring The Bog Baby by Jeanne Willis. We will take inspiration from the text to write our own finding narratives and instructions.

Reading
Please make sure you're reading with your child each night and sign their communication diary when you've heard them read. Two RWI books will go home with your child each Monday and be returned to school on a Friday to be cleaned over the weekend.

Maths
We will continue to explore the inverse relationship between addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to solve missing number problems. We will also be starting our unit on measure, with a focus on length, mass and temperature.

RE
In RE we will be exploring how Christians know how to care for others. We will also be looking at the Christian value of forgiveness and how this is shown in Christianity.

Computing
In computing we will continue to improve our key skills such as touch typing and being able to navigate the internet and word documents. We are becoming more confident in accessing Google Classroom and Purple Mash as home learning tools.

Time to Talk
To help children transition back into school life and to support their mental health in such uncertain times we will continue with our Time to Talk sessions four times a week. They will follow five main themes; managing feelings, developing self-efficiency, promoting connectedness, developing hope and gratitude and building resilience.
