Mrs Torrie and Mrs Rogers share the teaching of year 2.
Keep an eye on the class page for any letters that we send out. You can also follow the school social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date with the latest news and events. We are really looking forward to September and welcoming the children the back. Especially, as we know what a treat they are to teach having had them previously. We hope you all enjoy a restful Summer and return raring to get stuck in with some new learning.
Your child now has their own personalised login details for purple mash and google classroom. Children should read once a day at home.
If you have any questions please write a note in your child's communication diary. You can also contact us via the school office or on the Year 2 email address: firstname.lastname@example.org We will endeavour to support you and your child the best we can.
In Literacy this half term we will be exploring the text 'The Night Gardener' and writing our own setting narratives and diaries based on the text.
Please make sure you're reading with your child each night and sign their communication diary when you've heard them read. Two RWI books will go home with your child each Monday and be returned to school on a Friday to be cleaned over the weekend. Children on accelerated reader will change their own books after they complete the quiz in school. Children should be aiming to do at least a book a week on accelerated reader (dependent on book length). Your children should have come home with some books to enjoy during the holders – don't forget they can access accelerated reader at home this Summer to complete their book quizzes.
In maths this half term we will be focusing on number work, including addition, subtraction and the 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
This term in science our topic is 'Living Things and their Habitats'. We will be exploring the living things in the school environment and the work of Jane Goodall. It would be great when you are in the garden or out and about to have a look at the living things and their habitats.
This half term our topic is the British Isles.
This half term we will be exploring the Christian Value of friendship.
Our computing will be linked to our science topic as we will be collecting and presenting data on mini beats we observe.
