Welcome to the Year 1 page . Year 1 is taught by Mis Bloore (Monday -Wednesday) and Mrs Rogers (Tuesday am, Thursday – Friday). We are excited to welcome the children back to to school and looking forward to teaching them this year. If you have any questions about your child's learning please contact us via the children's diaries or the school office. We will always do our very best to support you and your child. We will upload all letters and resources we send home to support your child to this class page (where possible). We will also use this page to update you with what we are currently learning about in class. Please also follow the school Facebook/Twitter accounts for up to date information and celebrations of work.
In Literacy we will be exploring the text 'Paper Planes' by Jim Helmore and Richard Jones
This text focuses on friendship – in particular how we can continue close friendships when we can't be together.
Please read with your child 15 min per day and sign their home school diary. As well as this your child may be sent words to learn to read. Please practice these daily. You can also let us know how children are getting on with this in their communication diaries, which will be checked daily.
Children will now start following the Singapore maths scheme that we follow throughout Key Stage 1 and 2. Initially we will be working on securing our numbers to 10 – including number bonds, addition, subtraction and place value.
In computing we will be learning about e-safety and learning key skills to help us access the chrome books. We shall start with some keyboard skills and how to navigate around the screen and use the internet.
Time for Talk
This year we will be having Time for Talk sessions four times a week. These sessions are to support our children after missing so much school and to help them whist we still live with the changes brought about by Covid. The sessions will follow 5 themes; Managing feelings, developing self-efficiency, promoting connectedness (friendship), developing hope and gratitude and building resilience. These session will include stories, art and discussion activities.
Please use the communication diaries to send us any messages as these are checked everyday. Alternatively, you can call the school office. Please always let us know if some else is picking up your child or any change of arrangements.
If you child has to isolate and there's learning at home you may use the class email to communicate with the teacher.
Please note this email is not monitored daily when no one is isolating so please use the communication diary as the first means of communication to ensure a prompt response. You can also use the class email if you want to send in any celebrations for are home school communication tree display.
