Handwriting is a great activity to keep up with at home. It works on the children's fine motor skills and will aid their writing. It will make them a more confident and quicker writer. This is a key skill to master. They key thing when supporting the children at home is firstly to ensure they are starting from the correct place and moving in the right direction. When they are forming the letter shape correctly they can then ensure it is positioned in the correct place on a line and is an appropriate size (no giant letters). For number formation, again it is about starting in the correct place and forming the right shape. We then get children to focus on fitting one number in a square -as they would in their maths book. There are lots of videos on youtube to support letter formation and some great games if they get through the sheets.
